UNDERPASS AT BHERA ENCLAVE

Client: Public Works Department, New Delhi

Project Description:

Consultancy services for the Detailed Design of Construction of underpass at Jwala Heri – Behra Enclave Intersection in Outer Ring Road No.26, New Delhi. The project comprises of a signal free rotary intersection and a vehicular underpass to provide uninterrupted straight vehicular movement along Outer Ring Road No.26 and reduce traffic congestion at intersection.

Salient Features:

  • Detailed design of Vehicular Underpass of 500 m length with 3 lane dual carriageway.
  • Diaphragm wall is adopted for the Underpass.
  • Voided slab and Dome shaped Atrium are provided to cover the central open portion of the Underpass.
  • Signal free Rotary type intersection is provided for the uninterrupted flow of vehicles in all the directions.
  • Two Steel foot over bridges are provided on either side of the Underpass to facilitate pedestrian movement.
  • Various facilities like Service Roads, footpaths, Street lightings, Road Signages, Busbays have been provided.

GRADE SEPARATOR AT AZADPUR

Client: Public Works Department, New Delhi

Project Description:

The Grade separator at Azadpur is located on the Outer Ring Road. The project comprises an Underpass, an At-grade portion and a flyover. A DMRC line runs parallel to the Center line of the Underpass. To ensure pedestrian safety, subway and foot over bridge are provided. Service Road is provided on all the sides for local traffic.

Scope of the Work Includes:

  • Topographic surveys and Soil Investigations.
  • Plan & Profile for flyover, Underpass, Slip Roads and Service Roads.
  • Design of Foundations, Substructure, Superstructure for the flyover.
  • Design of Underpass with Diaphragm wall .
  • Design of Storm water drainage, Signages, Lighting etc.,
  • Design of Retaining wall, Contiguous Piles to retain earth on existing embankment portion.
  • Design of Vehicular underpass by Box Pushing technique of 11.0 m width through the existing embankment.
  • Design of Pedestrian subway & Steel Foot over bridge.
  • GFC Drawings for the above.
  • Checking of Fabrication Drawings for Steel Components.
  • Construction support.

Salient features of the Project:

  • The superstructure of the Underpass is single span integral, prestressed voided slab superstructure (in covered portion of the underpass).
  • The superstructure of flyover is 3 span continuous cast-in-situ prestressed concrete box girder with maximum depth of 2.0m at centre. In the obligatory span, the depth varies from 3.0 m at the support to 2.0 m at the centre. Carriageway configuration of 9.0m wide constructed with two single cell box girders.
  • Diaphragm wall construction of varying thickness from 600mm to 1000mm is used for construction of Underpass.
  • The substructure of the flyover is of Wall type piers.
  • Total length of Underpass is 530.0 m.
  • Total length of flyover is 630.0 m (stilt portion 334.0 m).
  • Precast Concrete drain, Sump with Pump Room are provided for disposal of Storm water.
  • Other facilities include lighting, Landscaping, Signages etc.,

NANGLOI JUNCTION GRADE SEPARATOR

Client: Public Works Department, New Delhi

Project Description:

The flyover at Nangloi covering Sultanpuri-Najafgarh Intersection and Kirari More junction on NH-10. A DMRC line runs parallel to the Center line of the Flyover at Nangloi. To ensure pedestrian safety, one subway is provided across NH-10. The at-grade road is widened and service roads are provided for local traffic. Cycle tracks are provided for the safety of cyclists along NH 10.

Scope of the Work Includes:

  • Topographic surveys and Soil Investigations.
  • Plan & Profile for flyover, Slip Roads.
  • Design of Foundations, Substructure, Superstructure for the entire flyover.
  • Design of Storm water drainage, Location of Gantries and Signages.
  • Drainage Plan and profile.
  • Preparation of GFC Drawings for the above.
  • Checking of Fabrication Drawings.
  • Construction support.

Salient features of the Project:

  • The superstructure of flyover is of 20.2m wide (3 lane dual carriageway of 9.0m wide)
  • Un-divided deck is made of steel plate girder in composite action with concrete deck slab. Overall depth is 2.0m.The superstructure is typically 3 span continuous (approximately 32m span) and the Obligatory span of 45m.
  • The total length flyover is approximately 1000m (stilt portion 636.5m).
  • 1.0 m dia. bored cast in situ piles are used for foundation.
  • Superstructure supported on a Single Pier.

PANIPAT ELEVATED CORRIDOR PROJECT

Client: L&T ECC

Project Description:

Detailed engineering design for the Widening of existing 4 lane road from Km 86.000 to Km 96.000, covering Panipat City, on NH 1 of Haryana to 6 lane access control highway with elevated 6 lane elevated structure from 88560 to 92160 covering Gohana Road, Sanauli Road, Assandh Road crossings, City Bus stand and Skylark tourist complex and widening and construction of Peripheral lanes.

Salient Features:

  • Access controlled 6 lane highway in the reach km 86.000 to km 96.000.
  • Separate 2 lane peripheral road with paved shoulder on either side of access controlled 6 lane highway for the local Panipat traffic.
  • Three Underpasses to accommodate 4 lane divided carriageway.
  • Construction of 2 New minor Bridges @ Ch: 91.400 & Ch: 96.000.
  • Widening / construction /reconstruction of culverts, drains, ducts for services etc.
  • Other miscellaneous provisions like Toll Plaza, street lighting, road furniture, road markings, Bus bays, truck lay bye, signalized junctions etc.
  • The 3.6 Km long flyover is the longest 6 lane flyover in India, built by utilizing state of art technology.
  • A 20-lane Toll Plaza.
  • Precast Girders & Crash barriers have been used extensively to reduce the duration of superstructure completion.
  • For the first time in India, precast deck slabs have been used as a load bearing members in combination with cast-in-situ.
  • Project completed ahead of the Schedule.

EXTENSION OF SECONDARY RUNWAY AT CHENNAI AIRPORT, CHENNAI. CONSULTANCY SERVICE FOR CONSTRUCTION OF RCC/PRESTRESSED CONCRETE BRIDGE ACROSS RIVER ADAYAR.

Client: Airport Authority of India, Chennai

Brief Scope and Salient Features:

Consultancy services were for the Detailed Design of RCC / Prestressed concrete bridge across River Adyar. The bridge consists of runway portion, taxiway portion and half strength portion. The bridge is constructed at the touch down zone of the aircraft.
The runway portion and taxiway portion is designed for the maximum aircraft load of A380 airbus. The half strength portion is designed for the 50% of runway live load and for the tanker load. The bridge is of approximately 200m long and 470m wide.

Scope of the project:

  • Hydraulic study ,detailed survey report, hydraulic parameters and hydraulic report.
  • Soil investigation and Soil investigation report.
  • Structural deigns philosophy, structural parameters, preliminary sizes and estimates.
  • Detailed design and drawings for the full strength potion and Half strength potion.
  • Preparation of tender drawings, BOQ, cost estimates and specifications.
  • Construction support activities.

 

 

DETAILED DESIGN AND APPROVAL OF STRUCTURES IN THE LINK BETWEEN THE  WESTERN EXPRESS HIGHWAY (WEH) AND CHATRAPATHI SHIVAJI INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (CSIA).

Client: L&T-ECC, Chennai

Brief Scope and Salient Features.
Detailed Design of Viaduct and structures connecting WEH and CSIA. The detailed design includes design of tunnel, pedestrian subway and Vehicular underpass.

Scope of Work:

  • General arrangement drawing for Viaduct,Tunnel and WEH.
  • Detailed design for the superstructure,substructure and foundation for the viaduct.
  • Detailed design of tunnel and ramps.
  • Detailed design of VUP and PUP.
  • Drawings for the junction improvements.
  • Construction support activities.
  • Design of highway geometry for the WEH, tunnel and Viaduct.

The challenging aspects of the project is :

  • Construction in the busiest area of expressway- fast track construction
  • Wide deck having 4 outgoing lanes and two incoming lanes.
  • Post –tensioned spine beam prestressed both longitudinally and transversely.
  • Superstructure is resting  on the single column.
  • Rearrangement of utility in the airport area.

FLYOVER AT LAJPAT NAGAR, NEW DELHI

Client : Delhi Tourism & Transportation Development Corporation Ltd.

L&T-RAMBØLL  provided detailed engineering services for a 6 lane flyover covering 3 junctions along with pedestrian subway facilities at the 3 junctions. The superstructure consists of 2 independent carriageways of pre-cast segmental box girder, continuous over 4 spans. Subways were constructed by diaphragm wall methodology. Choice of construction technology was based on clients requirement for minimum obstruction to traffic during construction and speed of construction. The shape of the cross-section for the deck is done by the Consultant based on aesthetics.
